U9 "Interest in Competitive" Skate
The Orangeville Tigers are exploring the possibility of bringing back U9 Competitive in the fall of 2023 for players born in 2015/2016.
There are many factors that go into a decision. The Tigers have offered U9 Competitive (once called Novice Rep) several different times over the past few decades. For various reasons, the program was not continued. Several centres around us have brought back the program and the Orangeville Tigers would like to gauge the interest of families who might be interested in this program returning.
One of the important factors involved in our decision is the continued development of a strong Community Hockey program. We would not want our Competitive program to decimate our Community program, in terms of the number of players participating.
Interested families also need to understand that Competitive hockey involves a significant increase in cost. Players involved in Competitive programs pay 3 to 4 times more per season than Community players, and sometimes more.
The first step for families who are be interested is to sign up for the U9 "Interested in Competitive" skate on Saturday, April 15 at 2:30pm in Alder Green. Cost is $10. Click on the link below to sign up.
Interest in U9 Competitive Skate
Depending on the level of interest and the level of talent, the Tigers will make a decision and announce our intentions this spring. Tryouts for U9 Competitive would be in the fall, if we decide to take that route.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to James Herr, OGHA President or Paul Mammoliti, the Director of Competitive Hockey.
